Our Workshops
The European Drum Majors and Friends Association regularly offers workshops for Drum Majors and interested band members.
They are suitable for everyone from complete beginners to experienced Drum Majors and are based on the standards of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association (RSPBA).
Our aim is to sustainably improve technique, presentation and leadership skills while helping to establish a consistent standard. All of this takes place in a professional, respectful and open learning environment.
Key Topics
Our workshops are always adapted to the experience level and interests of the participants and include practical marching exercises as well as theoretical elements. The following areas are generally covered:
History & Theory
Understanding the origins, duties and responsibilities of the Drum Major.
Dress
Correct appearance, knowledge of uniform and professional presentation.
Drill & Discipline
Marching, confident formations and clear movement routines, both actively and as part of a formation.
Commands
Commands and command sequences with and without the use of the mace.
Leadership & Band Management
Responsible leadership, communication and teamwork.
Mace Flourishing
Technique and professional preparation for competition.
On-Site Workshops
In addition to our regular Drum Major workshops, we also offer individual training sessions directly with bands at their own locations.
Whether the focus is on marching, discipline, formations, presentation or fundamental Drum Major communication, we adapt the content flexibly to the needs of each individual band.
If you are interested, simply get in touch with us. Together, we will find the right format for your band.
